Elvis thrilled us!Rolling Stone Magazine once stated, “Elvis Presley made rock ‘n roll the international language of pop music.” Elvis sure did change the face of music at a time when music needed a shot in the arm by being totally original with his energetic rockabilly style and over-the-top rock ’n roll songs.

Influenced by gospel music at an early age, Elvis fell in love with music he would hear in churches and the streets of the predominantly African-American neighborhood he lived in beginning in 1947.

A multitude of singers such as Buddy Holly, Johnny Cash, and Roy Orbison followed in Elvis’ footsteps and helped shape the early sound of rock ‘n roll to the point where this music genre ruled the world for quite a while.

John Lennon of The Beatles once said, “Before Elvis, there was nothing.” That was extremely flattering but as much as I love Elvis there were plenty of talented, iconic artists before him so I’m not too sure about that, but one thing is clear. Until Elvis, no pop star had ever commanded the adulation of screaming, adoring fans like he did!

It’s easy to see the type of indelible impact Elvis made on the world. Elvis is still more than just a memory; he’s very much a part of our lives years after his passing through his music which still sits in most every US household as well as abroad in the form of CD’s, cassetes, 8-tracks, and records. His memorabilia is still the top seller in the U.S.

While you’re reading this last sentence, you were interested enough to get to this point in the article, and if you’re not a person who’s merely curious to know more about “The King,” you’re living proof of how his legacy lives on.

Hail “The King!”
